Principal's Message

Dear Oropeza Families,

Welcome back to another great year at Oropeza Elementary, home of the Sea Otters! 

Our goal is to meet the needs of every child and every family.  Our motto is “Work hard, learn, and get smarter every day!”  The Oropeza team provides children with an instructional program focused on Common Core Standards and preparing children for college and career readiness.  Oropeza teachers and staff are dedicated to providing your child with outstanding learning experiences in a safe and caring environment where they can thrive and achieve at the highest level. 

At Oropeza Elementary, we have Student Guidelines for Success that help create a learning environment that is safe, caring, and positive.  The Guidelines for Success are “Be Kind.  Be Respectful.  Be a Good Listener.  Be Hands-Off.  Be a Friend.”  Thank you for supporting and reinforcing the Guidelines for Success. 

Please make sure your child comes to school on time, every day.  Daily attendance and punctuality are important to overall academic success.  When your child is not at school or is late, they miss important learning opportunities that can’t be made up. Every teaching and learning moment is valuable, for your child and for the school.  Please make sure your child is at school every day by the first bell at 7:55 A.M. 

Please do not send unhealthy snacks to school with your child such as candy, chips, or dessert-type foods.  Healthy foods, such as fruit, are much better alternatives for a healthy body and mind.
